WH Blog Assignment #2













Hey WH Students,

Here is your WH Blog Assignment #2, due by Saturday, 8/22 at midnight:

1. Make sure you have completed Blog Assignment #1.

2. Go to http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/Games/PuzzlesQuizzes/Quizyournoodle-mount-everest. This quiz contains 10 geography questions. Each person in your group should take the quiz.

3. Post each of your quiz scores to your blog. Title it: "GEOGRAPHY QUIZ SCORES".

4. Go http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/Places/Find/Iraq. Watch the video and answer the following questions (make sure your sound is on):
a. What is known as the "Cradle of Civilization"?
b. Where did these civilizations develop?
c. Recorded history in Iraq began with what group?
d. What did the Mesopotamians build to collect water?
e. Name 2 Mesopotamian cities.
f. What did crop surpluses do?
g. Who lived at the temple?
h. What was a "ziggurat"?
i. What were kings revered as?
j. What is "cuneiform"?
k. What did they write on their clay tablets? (They kept records of what?)
l. What was the "Epic of Gilgamesh"?
m. Describe the "hanging gardens" of Babylon.
n. Who was King Hammurabi? What was Hammurabi's Code?
o. What did Mesopotamia leave a legacy of?

5. Post the previous questions AND your answers to your group blog! Title it "IRAQ VIDEO". This is very important because this is how you'll receive points for this assignment. If you are having trouble posting, please let me know.

6. On the same website, click on "Facts & Photos". There are 17 facts. You will need to look at each fact. Answer the following questions:

k. Fact 11 - What happened to Saddam Hussein?
l. Fact 12 - True or False: Iraq is one of the most culturally diverse nations.
m. Fact 13 - Today, how many Iraqis can read/write?
n. Fact 14 - When were Iraq's first democratic elections held?
o. Fact 15 - What does Iraq have the "world's second largest supply of"?
p. Fact 16 - What's the official name of Iraq? What is the capital city? How many people live there?
q. Fact 17 - What is Iraq's money called?
