Hey Students,

Heads up - you will probably need to watch the National Geographic video on Iraq at home since our speakers don't work in the classroom (unless you bring headphones). Remember, post the questions and answers in YOUR blog :)

2. Describe what's going on in the IRAQ photos. (Don't look @ the caption! Put it in your own words):

3. Click on "MAP". What 4 bodies of water surround the Middle East?

4. Go to www.flickr.com. Search for "Mesopotamia". Find 10 photos related to Sumer/Mesopotamia and post them on your blog. It might be pictures of Mesopotamian artifacts, etc... (Tip: There's a lot of Mesopotamian art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC)

Here is your WH Blog Assignment #2, due by Saturday, 8/22 at midnight:

1. Make sure you have completed Blog Assignment #1.

2. Go to http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/Games/PuzzlesQuizzes/Quizyournoodle-mount-everest. This quiz contains 10 geography questions. Each person in your group should take the quiz.

3. Post each of your quiz scores to your blog. Title it: "GEOGRAPHY QUIZ SCORES".

4. Go http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/Places/Find/Iraq. Watch the video and answer the following questions (make sure your sound is on):

a. What is known as the "Cradle of Civilization"?

b. Where did these civilizations develop?

c. Recorded history in Iraq began with what group?

d. What did the Mesopotamians build to collect water?

e. Name 2 Mesopotamian cities.

f. What did crop surpluses do?

k. What did they write on their clay tablets? (They kept records of what?)

p. Fact 16 - What's the official name of Iraq? What is the capital city? How many people live there?

2. Click on "Create Blog" (you will create a group blog, not individual)

3. Create a Google Account. One of you will need to input your e-mail address. Your display name should be your group members' names together. Example: Brooke & Ashley's Blog.

4. Click continue. Your URL should be this format: http://bcsworldhistorybrookeashley.blogspot.com

5. Pick a template and customize your blog.
